CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

The Farrell Institute Environmental Research Scholar Awards
Including the Tom & Kath Farrell Scholarship

The Tom Farrell Institute for the Environment is seeking expressions of interest from University of Newcastle researchers and/or external organisations interested in partnering with the Institute to support environmental research scholars (Masters or PhD) in any academic discipline or faculty at the University of Newcastle.  The Institute will provide either:

Half Scholarship Funding (for up to 3.5 years), plus support towards international conference travel towards the end of the candidature.

Or

Research Support (up to $10,000 in total) for any reasonable and justified expenditure to further the project of a research student at the University of Newcastle, plus support towards international conference travel towards the end of the candidature.

Scholarships
Individuals, Research Groups or Centres and/or external organisations able to commit matching funds for the scholarship component (currently $10,004 per year for the normal 3.5 year degree program period) should provide by October 17 the due date to Farrell@newcastle.edu.au a single A4 page EoI as an attachment providing: 

  1. Project Title
  2. Details of the Main Supervisor and their University affiliations
  3. Details of any External Partner Organisation
  4. Indication of the source of the matching scholarship funds
  5. A brief summary of the project goals and their relevance to the TFI
  6. Indication if an appropriate candidate has been identified

Research Support
Students and their main supervisor should provide by October 17 the due date to Farrell@newcastle.edu.au a single A4 page EoI as an attachment providing: 

  1. Project Title
  2. Details of the Student, Main Supervisor and their University affiliations
  3. Details of any External Partner Organisation
  4. Justification of the need for the research funding if applicable
  5. A brief summary of the project goals and their relevance to the TFI
