Kevin Young
Kevin is currently the Managing Director at Hunter Water Corporation.
Kevin has over 24 years of experience working in private consulting both in Australia and overseas and working for government utilities. He has held a diverse variety of positions across the range of utility functions including operations, planning, construction, asset management, strategic policy and liaison.
He has a Degree with honours in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. Kevin is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Arthur Burns
Arthur Burns owns and operates an irrigated dairy farm at Singleton and has been a Board Member of the Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority since its formation. He is the President of the Hunter Valley Water Users Association and a member of the NSW Irrigators Council.
For many years, Arthur has been involved in various dairy and water organisations at local, state and national levels including the NSW Farmers Association.
Simon Smith
Simon Smith is the Deputy Director General of the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation.
He heads the Environment Protection and Regulation Division.
The Division is responsible for delivering credible and cost-effective regulation of:
- NSW’s major sources of air, noise, and water emissions and waste management facilities
- contaminated land, transport of dangerous goods, pesticides and radiation safety
- regulation of the environmental performance of Forests NSW’s activities.
The Division also leads DEC programs focused on
- conservation of threatened species
- protection of objects with significance for Aboriginal cultural heritage
- supporting and participating in land-use decision-making processes
- assessments of natural values to support a wide range of planning, regulation and conservation activities
- purchase and management of environmental water entitlements to restore icon wetlands.
The Division also has a particular focus on the deployment of market based tools to integrate environmental values into mainstream economic decision-making, and to achieve environmental objectives at least overall cost.
