Prof Steffen Lehmann
Presenting: 'Urbanisation, trends in sustainable built environments & technologies'
PhD (TU Berlin), AA Dipl. (AA School London), Dipl. Des. (Univ. Appl. Sc. Mainz); BDA, RAIA - Chair, Professor of Architectural Design, in the School of Architecture and Built Environment, in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, at The University of Newcastle.
Professor Steffen Lehmann has received widespread recognition and won several awards for his achievements in architectural work, urban design, research and teaching. He came to Australia in May 2003 and joined QUT, where he took over the Chair in Architecture. Prior to his appointment he worked 15 years as a practising architect, 10 of those years with his own practice in Berlin.
Since July 2006 he holds the Chair in Architectural Design at The University of Newcastle . His expertise is in sustainable urban design and the design of energy-efficient buildings.
Chris Johnson
Presenting: 'Polycentric Urban Structures'
Chris Johnson is the Executive Director, Cities and Centres in the New South Wales Department of Planning. Chris is also the Director of the Cities Task Force which recently undertook new city centre plans for the six regional cities of Newcastle, Wollongong, Gosford, Parramatta, Liverpool and Penrith.
Chris is also Director of the Metropolis Congress in 2008 which brings to Sydney 100 of the worlds top cities. He is also Adjunct Professor of Architecture at University of technology Sydney and at the University
of New South Wales. Chris has written ten books and given numerous lectures on the issues of planning, architecture and urban design.
Mark Haycox
Presenting: 'Melbourne Docklands-Australia's Largest Mixed-Use Urban Renewal Project'
Mark Haycox is part of VicUrban's multi disciplinary team. His current role is as Senior Urban Designer for Melbourne Docklands - Australia's largest urban renewal project, expected to become home for 20,000 people, a workplace for 30,000 people and world class destination for 55,000 visitors per day.
Mark studied landscape architecture at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the University of British Columbia and has recently completed post graduate studies in Business Management at Melbourne Business School.
Mark has 15 years experience working on a wide variety of local and international projects that include new commercial buildings, high and medium density residential housing, retail and community based projects as well as new environmental and water sensitive urban design standards.
Shane Power
Presenting: 'Council House CH2-Australia's first six star rating green office building'
Shane Power is the Manager, Major Project Delivery for the City of Melbourne.
Shane is an architect with both architecture and environmental science qualifications. In recent years he has moved into project management and has been responsible for overseeing the delivery of major public infrastructure projects for the City of Melbourne, including the City Square, Birrarung Marr, Sandridge Bridge Precinct, Bourke Street Mall and Piazza Italia. He has also been the project coordinator for the CH2 project.3
