Welcome to ECI-PDP

The Early Childhood Intervention - Professional Development Project is part of the Stronger Together initiative of ADHC.

This site provides support materials and links for people participating in the research and professional development project "Preventing and reducing challenging behaviour in young children"

The central aim of this project is to provide a practical step-by-step process for staff working in early childhood intervention services and education that will maximise the social and communicative involvement of the children they support.

There are two series of workshops available. The core course has the following goals:

  • enhance the use of research-based practices in addressing challenging behaviour

  • build capacity in services, especially in relation to working collaboratively with families, and

  • provide a sequenced approach to use of the materials

The Autism workshops complement the Core course by focusing on a systematic approach to addressing the needs of young children on the autism spectrum.

2012 Update

The above Workshops' phase of this program was completed in 2011.   A DVD that encapsulates much of the research and best practice examples, relating to working with children on the autism spectrum, is now being developed.

The DVD may prove useful as a review of the workshops' content for those who attended and also as a summary of the ECI-PDP program for those who did not attend.

If you would like to receive a free copy of this DVD, which will be available later in the year, please register your interest by clicking on the following word:  DVD
