Professor Sid Bourke
Professor Bourke has published very widely, has edited a research journal, and served on a number of national research organisations, including as President of the Australian Association for Research in Education, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Australian Council for Educational Research. He has expertise in education and training assessment and evaluation, and multivariate analysis, including hierarchical linear modelling. In 1999 he was one of a team of researchers from three institutions investigating the impact on schools and school systems of educational research done in Australian universities. His most recent book (with L. W. Anderson) Assessing Affective Characteristics in the Schools (2000, Lawrence Erlbaum), based on many years of research and experience in attitude measurement, is concerned with questionnaire design, analysis, and reporting.
Professor Bourke is an experienced supervisor and examiner of research theses, currently supervising or joint supervising 12 research students. He is currently Assistant Dean, Research and Research Training, Faculty of Education and Arts. Since 1999 he has also been Deputy Chair of the University Research Higher Degrees Committee with responsibility for the maintenance of research thesis quality across all disciplines taught in the University.
