Dr Jill Scevak

Dr Scevak's current research interests are in the area of educational psychology, particularly the factors influencing student learning and adjustment in secondary and tertiary education environments. She has researched and published in a number of areas relating to interpersonal factors and their impact on student learning: the role of psychological factors (feelings of isolation, stress, relationship with teachers/lecturers) on the adjustment processes of university students, mature-aged university students, and high school students. Dr Scevak has extended her research interest to include postgraduate students and is currently examining the impact of interpersonal factors on the relationship between the doctoral student and his/her supervisor.

Dr Scevak lectures in human development and interpersonal communication, at the undergraduate and post graduate level, as well as supervising masters and doctoral research students. Dr Scevak is also a registered psychologist in NSW and an executive member of the Newcastle branch of the Australian Psychological Society. Her work as a psychologist has involved supporting students with developmental and adjustment issues. She has published in such journals as Educational Psychology, International Journal of Cognitive Education and Mediated Learning, and the European Journal of Psychology in Education.
