Use of Simulated Learning Environments in Nursing Curricula
National Health Workforce Taskforce Project
The need for an adequate number of quality clinical placements is an ongoing issue in Australia and internationally. In this project the aim is to consider ways of expanding clinical training capacity through the use of simulated learning environments (SLE). We are analyzing potential barriers to the adoption of SLE, and developing national agreement on aspects of curricula that meet clinical placement objectives and that could be delivered via SLE. The project will include input from Australian nursing schools and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Ultimately, this project will determine the extent to which SLE can be used to complement or supplement clinical placements without compromising student learning experiences.
