What Our Students Say About...

Community Engagement

Ironically, as this is an online course with no face to face contact I have actually felt incredibly supported and encouraged. I feel as though Dr Stuart is very involved and always checks in to see how we are going and being my final year at uni, doing 50 units and also having 2 jobs this has just been great. (HLSC2241)

I appreciated the quick replies to queries and questions, and clear directions and explanations. Also it is apparent that a lot of preparation has gone into designing and preparing the course and choosing reading material. Consideration seems to have been given to different learning styles and directions for all assignments were given at the beginning of the course so we could organise our time. As someone with a moderate learning disability I appreciate this. (HLSC2241)

In the past 12 weeks, I have experimented with some of the theories I learnt in this course and the results so far have been tremendous. I discovered a lot more practical things within this one semester than what 12 years of work experience in human services has given me. I have developed new skills and knowledge in relation to evaluating current and future projects. I have also had the opportunities to disseminate this newly found knowledge to my staff with remarkable results. (SWRK6008)

Volunteering

I just wanted to thank you for the course. It is my first online subject and it was very interactive and an enjoyable subject. I felt the online discussions were great for learning and as a way to break the boundary of feeling unattached to an online subject. I have completed them before for other subjects although because they were contact subjects I did not gain as much. Thanks for your time and thank you for this semseter. I have thoroughly enjoyed this course and have found your feedback very helpful. (Roxanne, student in Semester 2, HLSC2100)

Boys' Education

As a mature age student, while often finding the courses challenging your organisation and support are sincerely appreciated. You have made the online experience very rewarding. (Alan, current student, boys' education specialisation)

You cannot believe the value that FAC boys' education, fatherhood and community engagement courses have provided. They have significantly influenced the school's decision making processes and enabled better outcomes for our students. (James, recent graduate of the Master of Educational Studies specialisation in boys' education)

Working with Men and Fathers

Thanks so much for a wonderful course, I am highly recommending the course to all fellow welfare students. It would be fantastic to see this course made a core course in a variety of degrees. (Nicole, student in 2012, HLSC2241)
