Resilience Identification Resources

Victoria Clay & Simone Silberberg

This resource kit takes a strengths perspective by focusing on what is going right or what’s working in a young person’s life, and is adaptable to a wide range of community and education settings. The resources can be used by a wide range of workers (school counsellors, youth workers, social workers, and community development workers) involved with young people aged 9–16 years.

The kit contains tear-off blocks (50 copies) of the Resilience Identification Checklist and the Resilience Circle, and a user-friendly manual. The Checklist provides an overview of a young person’s situation by looking at internal and external support factors and interpersonal skills. It also provides support for planning interventions.

The Resilience Circle can be used as a conversational prompt with a young person to discuss risk and protective factors in his/her life and plan strategies that capitalise on a young person’s strengths, skills and resources. Replacement blocks of the Resilience Circle and the Resilience Idenitification Checklist are available separately.
