Teenage Drinking Dilemmas for Parents - SURVEY
Dr Conor Gilligan and Associate Professor Kyp Kypri are working with parents of teenagers looking at social norms and attitudes about adolescent drinking and parental supply of alcohol. With party season approaching parents are increasingly being faced with dilemmas about how to handle alcohol consumption among their own children and their children's peers.
We are recruiting parents to complete a web-based survey and optionally join a Facebook group to discuss the issue and share their experiences etc.

Activities Club for Retirees
The club meets weekly and aims to:
-Promote friendship
-Develop new interests
-Encourage further thinking
-Maintain manual dexterity and mobility

Two Ph.D. Scholarships Available in Brain Repair and Rehabilitation
The Translational Brain Repair and Rehabilitation Research Group located at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia has two full Ph.D. scholarships available and open to both domestic and international applicants. The successful applicants will be supervised by Dr Rohan Walker (Senior Research Fellow) and Professor Michael Nilsson (Director of the research group and the Hunter Medical Research Institute).
The projects associated with the scholarships will be focused on examining how the recovery environment, following experimentally induced brain injury (using animal models of stroke), can be modified to optimize recovery and brain repair. In examining brain repair, the projects will primarily utilise state-of-the-art small animal MRI facilities and multiphoton imaging facilities.

Postdoctoral Fellow
The Centre is seeking a highly motivated junior Postdoctoral Fellow to work on a maternal infection model of schizophrenia in the rat, based on a successful National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant entitled 'The effects of maternal infection on glutamate-related behavioural, electrophysiological and neuropathological measures relevant to schizophrenia'.
