My research focuses on the protein, Gametogenetin or Ggn, and its role in mitotic cells. Although Ggn was first discovered in 2003, there is not much known about its biological function. It was first identified as a sperm-specific protein but was found to be expressed in somatic tissues as well. Using a short interference RNA (siRNA) transfection culture system coupled with imaging techniques such as confocal microscopy and live cell imaging allowed me to investigate the role of Ggn in mitosis.
