I'm one of two research assistants in the Egg-to-Embryo research group. It's my role to aid in data collection for a number of key projects directed by the post-docs in the lab. I was lucky to have completed my Biotechnology undergrad here at Newcastle as it had a large focus directed toward reproductive biology which has always appealed to me. I completed my honours with the Marsupial Research Lab working on a "male kangaroo contraceptive" before becoming a full-time team member here in the Jones Lab. If I had to pick a favourite project it would be the work on Cdh1, which utilises mice with an oocyte specific Cdh1 knockout. It's a unique and very exciting model to have access to, so it keeps lab life interesting.
