Wine Industry Conference

Date: 7th and 8th of December 2009
Location: City Campus
Abstract We are pleased to announce the Inaugural Wine Business Research Symposium. The Symposium is being hosted by the Wine Industry Research Collaborative as part of the Centre for Institutional and Organisational Studies, University of Newcastle. This Symposium has two objectives. As an interdisciplinary colloquium, the Symposium aims to bring together practitioners and scholars who are working and interested in wine regions, wineries and other wine-related entities and activities. The Symposium also provides an opportunity for practitioners and researchers working in the Hunter wine region to exchange ideas on the issues that are important for the region's continued growth and success. The symposium will feature research paper sessions and a panel discussion. The panel discussion will focus on sustainability within wine regions and the wine industry. Based on the World Commission on Environment and Development definition of sustainability, "forms of progress that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs" we anticipate that panel discussion will encompass environmental, social and economic sustainability issues.
