One of the earliest works examining whether new imaging devices in radiation oncology could be used to measure and verify the accuracy of dose delivery to patients. Receives 15 citations per year.

This paper lead to better understanding of using imaging systems to measure and verify patient dose in radiation oncology.

The first paper to comprehensively examine a new method of ensuring that patient treatment is accurate in radiation therapy using time-resolved dosimetry. This can ensure that errors would be detected as soon as they occur which is not possible with current techniques.

Development of a new design for imaging systems in radiation oncology that promises to both acquire high quality anatomical images and accurately measure dose. This work may lead to a new type of imaging system in radiation oncology.

This paper concerned improving the accuracy of prostate radiation therapy treatments. It was one of the first investigations in radiation oncology using digital imaging systems to accurately measure the targeting of radiation beams to patient anatomy.

  • Dr Greer has been awarded approximately $2M in research funding since 2003 including two NHMRC grants commencing in 2009.
  • He was the scientific program convener for the major international conference in radiotherapy treatment imaging (portal imaging) in 2006.
  • He was awarded the Varian Prize for best radiotherapy presentation for his research into portal imaging at the EPSM-ABEC conference in 2007.
  • Developed computer based methods to analyse PSA response kinetics for the results of the TROG 96.01 clinical trial which has lead to a new standard of care for prostate radiotherapy patients.
