Aims & Objectives:
The project aim is to develop a greater awareness in the construction industry of the value of e-business to organisations and to increase participation in various e-business technologies.


The research objective is to develop an SME e-business technology adoption profile specifically for construction industry players

The research question addressed is:

  • "What is the nature of e-business adoption for SMEs in the Australian construction industry?"

Deliverables:
A literature review of relevant local and international publications to reveal the theoretical constructs of technology adoption and diffusion, and the local and international nature and use, and adoption and diffusion experiences and management of electronic supply chain environments, both generally and specific to the construction industry

Detailed investigation on 5 case studies of Australian building industry SMEs and large civil contractors/suppliers with unique characteristics in respect to its stage of e-business technology adoption

Three refereed publications (two international and one national)

Outcomes/Impact:
Publication of an E-Business Industry Information Book providing insights into current nature and use of electronic supply within the Australian construction industry. The aim of the book is to inform, raise awareness and demonstrate to industry in a promotional manner the key issues, concerns and advantages for organisations when conducting e-business

An E-Business adoption research project website – hosted on the CRC for Construction Innovation website
Industry partners will derive economic benefit from the research and increased awareness in the industry through an E-Business Industry Information Book and an E-Business research project website
