Research Topic
Geotechnical Study of Engineering Behaviour of Fouled Ballast
Research Abstract
This project addresses the effects of ballast fouling on drainage, shear strength and deformation characteristics through laboratory investigations using unique large-scale equipment’s designed and built at the University of Wollongong. New design guidelines are introduced for track maintenance. Also, a constitutive model for clay fouled ballast is proposed using framework of bounding surface plasticity.
