Behaviour of Granular Materials During Cyclic Loading: A Micro-Mechanical Approach

Research Abstract

This study is about the particle breakage behaviour due to cyclic loads on railways track in micro-mechanical perspective. The objectives of the study are laboratory evaluation of ballast behaviour using large scale cyclic triaxial rig, numerical simulation using Discrete Element Method (DEM) to examine the influence grain contacts and formulation of micromechanically inspired cyclic densification model.
