Research

The Priority Research Centre for Advanced Particle Processing and Transport, directed by Professor Kevin Galvin, conducts world-leading research upon the processing, transport and storage of minerals, and incorporates the Centre for Bulk Solids Handling (directed by Professor Mark Jones) and Centre for Multiphase Processes (directed by Laureate Professor Graeme Jameson).

Bulk Solids Handling have a long history in research and consultancy to industry in the fields of pneumatic and hydraulic conveying of particulate material, innovative operation of belt conveyors as well as the delivery of particulates from storage systems such as silos. Multiphase Processes conducts research into flotation, flocculation and comminution, and is perhaps best known for its work on the development of the Jameson Cell, an innovative flotation device that has been installed in mines around the world.

In addition, PRC researchers are engaged in solving fluid-mechanical problems in coal and mineral processing as well as steelmaking.

Specific research information relating to individuals within the Centre can be found on the People page.
