ArtsHealth is the connection between the humanities and creative arts, and health, medicine, science and well-being. The ArtsHealth Centre for Research and Practice is currently in hiatus. Between 2007 to 2010, ArtsHealth at Newcastle produced four symposia and hosted a number of international guest speakers including Dr Ellen Dissanayke (in 2009) and Dr Esther Sternberg (in 2010). It also organised a very successful four state lecture tour by Dr Sternberg in the same year with the Arts and Health Foundation.

This website is an archival collection of material created during that time. For current information on arts and health research in Australia we recommend that you visit the Arts and Health Foundation website http://www.artshealthfoundation.org.au/about-us/ which is an Australia-wide umbrella organisation.

" The one cogent argument for including art schools in Universities is the possibility for cross departmental research and collaboration. This is sadly rare in most of our Universities or at best token but here in Newcastle the cooperation between Health, Art and Architecture has been excellent. The powerful connection between memory, objects, spaces and emotional engagement with the real world makes this a natural area for common interest but as far as I know it is most clearly articulated in this University and this community."
