Data Collection

The University of Newcastle collects research publications data in a wide range of reference types and categories. Specific areas of published output are reported to the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE) and result in funding allocations returned to the University as part of the Commonwealth Block Grant Funding allocations such as Joint Research Engagement (JRE) and Research Training Scheme (RTS).

In October 2013 the University is launching NURO, our new research publications management system. NURO will integrate with a suite of online databases, including Web Of Science, Scopus and Pubmed, to automatically harvest many of our researchers' publications. Library staff will continue to verify and assess publications data for the HERDC and the wider university publications collection.

The 2013 Research Publications Collection will commence when the new system is rolled out in October. The deadline to submit 2013 publications is 31 March 2014.

Visit the Research Publications Collection Guide for guidelines and other information about the publications collection, including required verification evidence and information about the NURO implementation.
