Intersect is Australia's largest full-service eResearch support agency, working with the existing technical capabilities of its members and partners to identify, develop and deliver world-class ICT enabled platforms to drive the next generation of research and innovation.
As a member university, UON researchers have access to Intersect's team of eResearch Analysts who can provide advice and assistance on eResearch in general, as well as a range of other services, such as high performance computing, project management, software development and software hosting.
Richard Berry is Intersect's eResearch Analyst at the University of Newcastle.
Richard has over 10 years' experience working in research and IT related sectors. He completed a PhD (Neuroscience) at the Australian National University in 2006, where he continued to undertake research as a postdoctoral fellow until 2010. His research focussed on understanding the neural principles of vision in insects, so that these could be applied to man-made control systems for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
For the last 5 years Richard has worked for the Department of Defence, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining business intelligence and reporting systems related to aircraft maintenance. Richard also holds postgraduate qualifications in IT, and in his previous roles has worked as an analyst, database and web-application developer, and project manager.
