Awards for Research Excellence

The Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Research Excellence recognises the significant contribution to research excellence made by the University of Newcastle's talented early career and mid-career researchers.

The awards fall into the following categories:

  • an award for an outstanding researcher from each Faculty and The Wollotuka Institute,
  • an award for an outstanding researcher from a campus other than Callaghan and Newcastle (hospitals and city precinct) and
  • the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Research Excellence, which is presented to the most outstanding nomination received for a Faculty/Wollotuka, regional campus award.

Prizes

Winners of a faculty/Wollotuka or regional campus award will receive $2,000 (paid as a salary or a travel grant) and a certificate.

The recipient of the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Research Excellence will receive $10,000 (paid as a research grant held at the University of Newcastle) and a certificate.

The awards will be presented at the annual staff awards each year.
