Assistance with research projects

The Animal Welfare and Training Unit (AWTU) can assist animal-based researchers to develop and manage their research projects by:

  • Reviewing applications to the Animal Care Ethics Committee (ACEC) prior to submission
  • Providing advice on species and strain selection, anaesthesia, analgesia, sample collection, and surgery
  • Providing advice on the development of animal welfare monitoring check lists
  • Assisting researchers with the development of standard operating procedures
