It is an exciting time to be a researcher at the University of Newcastle. Ranked in the top 10 in Australia for research, a proven track record of innovation continues to drive our reputation as a place of research excellence.
In addition to more than 800 University academics, UoN hosts more than 200 research academics supported by external funding. We are keen to support and provide opportunity for our researchers by providing additional funds, specialist support and access to world-class facilities such as those available at NIER and HMRI.
UoN supports NHMRC Research Fellows with start-up funds, salary supplement and guaranteed salary support for a period of two years. These researchers often move on to University appointments.
The Gladys M Brawn Memorial Fellowship Scheme provides fellowships to scholars who are or have demonstrated the potential to become world recognised academics or clinicians, in medicine or in disciplines related to medicine.
UoN academics are among the best in the world, making significant contribution and impact within their disciplines. Many of our staff have successfully attracted highly competitive external fellowships through the Australian Research Council (ARC) and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
We are also interested in enabling established researchers to join our institutes and centres at UoN. If you are a new staff member transferring grants and/or Fellowships to the University Of Newcastle from another institution, please contact Research Grants and Contracts who will help you with this process and discuss our support mechanisms.
