Our research received deserved accolades in the national assessment, ERA 2012, and is increasingly being recognised internationally.  Our top researchers have won leading national and international awards.

UoN is proud of our many first class researchers who have a significant international presence.

UoN ranks well on all international rankings systems. In 2011 we were rated as a five star university for research in an independent audit by QS Stars, part of QS World University Rankings.

In 2012, UoN was ranked in the top three per cent of universities in the world by the QS and Times Higher Education global ranking systems, and in the top four per cent of universities in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities.

In June 2013, the QS 'Top 50 under 50' world rankings placed Newcastle at number 26 of young universities in the world - up seven places from 2012. Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed Newcastle number 40 in its '100 Under 50' - up five places from 2012. As a young university, being ranked by independent agencies as a world-class performer signals that we are on the right trajectory and is a testament to the development of first-rate education and research programs.
