Featured Collaboration

Through NIER, the Centre for Intelligent Electricity Networks has developed a partnership with North China Electric Power University to undertake collaborative research in smart grid technologies.

The power system in Australia is one of the largest in distance in the world. China has the world's largest power system and vast, unique technologies in power engineering. There are many common network transformation challenges for the power industry in both nations including reducing emissions, integrating renewable energy sources, and ensuring system stability, productivity, adequacy and efficiency.

The collaboration has led to the exchange of researchers and students, joint publications in power engineering, joint professional activities with CIGRE, and joint research funding applications with the Australian federal government and Australian Research Council. It also meets national objectives and ensures that China and Australia are at the forefront when it comes to the development of intelligent electricity networks.
