Students who perform well during the Bachelor of Theology degree may undertake a further year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) study to obtain an Honours degree.
The Honours degree allows students to further develop their theological knowledge and for students interested in progressing to postgraduate award.

Completion of a Bachelor of Theology, with normally at least a credit grade average based on all studies undertaken in the program and any additional work which may be prescribed by the Faculty Board. On completion of the relevant Bachelors degree, application is made directly to the University using the Direct Admission Application form available from the web, to be submitted to the relevant program officer.

There are 3 classes of Honours available and they are awarded based on merit:
- Class I: mark of 85% or over in the 80 honours units and the minimum of 75 from each examiner for the dissertation/project;
- Class II Division 1: mark of 75% - 84% in 80 honours units and an average mark of over 65% for the dissertation/project;
- Class II Division 2: mark of 65% - 74% in 80 honours units;
- Class III: mark of 50% - 64% in 80 honours units;
- Fail: mark less than 50%

Full-time enrolment (80 units per year) will enable program completion in one year. Students may complete the program over two years of part-time study. Part-time students should seek advice from the relevant Program Officer when enrolling to ensure that correct sequencing of course selection.
Within these 80 units there will be a coursework component and a thesis component.
