The Graduate Certificate of Professional Accounting program is designed for students with a degree in a field other than accounting who wish to obtain an introduction to accounting concepts and procedures.

All students can now enrol in an undergraduate Diploma in Languages alongside their main degree program. This diploma will enhance proficiency in another language or languages, and will increase international career opportunities. Subject to course availability, this additional program will generally add an extra year to studies, and students will graduate with a Diploma in Languages as well as their other degree. Please note that all language courses are held on campus (face to face) at Callaghan.

International students will be supported by the University and Newcastle Business School's current support mechanisms. There will be a requirement for a minimum of 6.5 IELTS result or equivalent.

The Graduate Certificate of Professional Accounting is an exit award for the Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Professional Accounting (Advanced) and Master of Professional Accounting/Master of Business.

Back to topRequirements and Structure

One trimester full-time or equivalent part-time study. The Graduate Certificate of Professional Accounting program runs on a trimester system, i.e. three terms per year. Students will commence studies in January. The Graduate Certificate of Professional Accounting requires 40 units gained through the completion of four courses worth 10 units each. Students are required to complete the two prescribed core courses and two from the list of directed courses.
