The Graduate Certificate in International Business program is designed to meet the needs of two groups - international students who wish to undertake business studies with a specific international focus in order to find employment in global markets, and Australian students who wish to expand their business capabilities and to export products to international markets. The program provides a sound knowledge in the core business areas of marketing, finance, economics and human resource management and expands on this knowledge in the context of international trade, government policy and regulations with regard to global business operations.

Students will study contemporary principles and standards of critical reasoning and management and develop the skills to operate effectively in the international business community, with cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness.

Admission will be competitive and on the basis of an undergraduate degree or other relevant qualifications and experience as determined by the Pro Vice-Chancellor. International students must also satisfy the University's English Language requirements

International students will be supported by the University and the Newcastle Graduate School of Business current support mechanisms. There will be a requirement for a minimum 6.5 IELTS result or equivalent.

Domestic students with a disability or chronic illness will have their needs met by the NGSB in liaison with the Student Support Unit. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will draw on the assistance and support provided by the Indigenous Higher Education Centre, Umulliko. Students from rural and isolated areas and those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds will e supported through existing University and NGSB support structures.

One trimester full-time or 2 trimesters part-time. The Newcastle Graduate School of Business runs courses on a trimester system, i.e. three terms per year. Students may commence studies in January, May or September. Please check term dates on the University website at: www.newcastle.edu.au/dates/.

The Graduate Certificate in International Business program requires the completion of 40 units, consisting of four courses worth 10 units each. Students are required to complete two Core Courses (20 units). The remaining two courses (20 units) may be selected from the remaining Core Courses or from the Directed Courses.
