Students wishing to study Finance may do so as a major within the Bachelor of Commerce program http://www.newcastle.edu.au/program/10446.html.
The demand for graduates with finance backgrounds is extremely strong - it's a growth area and prospects for a professional, well paid career in areas such as banking, stockbroking or financial planning are second to none.

Students completing this program with accounting major will meet the academic requirements for Associate membership of CPA Australia and enrolment in the CPA Program, and for enrolment in the Chartered Accountants Program of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

To complete the degree, students must pass courses totalling 240 units. The academic program has three distinct components. Prescribed Courses, a Major Sequence and Elective Courses.
The 240 units required to complete the degree must include:
- All 1000 level Prescribed Courses
- A major sequence in either Business Finance or Quantitative Finance
- No more than 100 units at the 1000 level
- At least 60 units at the 3000 level.
