Recognition.
| 2006 | Low Emission Demonstration Technology Fund DITR (Australia) In 2004 Professor Wall initiated research on oxyfuel technology in Australia associated with potential CO2 recovery and sequestration, and played a major role in establishing the $2 million Australia/Japan Oxyfuel Feasibility Project, with IHI and CCUJ (Japan) and Australian industry funding from 2004-06. In 2005, Wall helped establish oxyfuel technology as a viable greenhouse reduction technology recognised internationally, through collaboration with colleagues in Japan, US and Europe, and organising sessions in conferences including at the Clearwater (US) Coal Conference, the most respected conference on coal technologies. This coincided with the publication of the first review on the technology (Buhre B.J.P., Elliott L.K, Sheng C.D, Gupta, and Wall T.F , Oxy-Fuel Combustion Technology For Coal-Fired Power Generation, Progress in Energy and Combustion Science, 31,283-307, 2005). In 2006 this has led to a successful application to the Australian Low Emission Technology Demonstration Fund (LEDTF) for $184 million submitted by CS Energy, to retrofit a unit at the Callide power station in Queensland to oxyfuel. |
|---|
| 2002 | Director of research organisations CRCs (Australia) Research management, including major role in creation of two coal Cooperative Research Centres, and Deputy Executive Director, CRC for Black Coal Utilisation, 1995 -2001, and Deputy CEO, CRC for Coal in Sustainable Development, 2002-2005. |
|---|
Research Award.
| 2002 | Various awards for excellence, innovation and contributions to the coal industry Various (United States) Awards from institutions and professional bodies including the ESSO award of Excellence in Chemical Engineering of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, the Bryers Award of the Engineering Foundation of US ASME, in 1997, John Chipman Award of the Iron and Steel Society Process Technology Division, US, in 2002, and the US Pitt Award for Innovation for outstanding contributions to coal combustion technology, in 2003. Recognition of service to industry. Awarded Membership of the order of Australia (AM) in Australia Day honours list for 'service to the coal industry and education' in 2002. Elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering in 2002. |
