Career Summary

Biography

I have had long experience in Higher, Vocational and School Education as well as Pastoral leadership. Commencing in 1979 with an appointment to the pastorate of Gosford Christian Centre, an independent congregation in the Pentecostal/Charismatic spectrum of the church, I was instrumental in the establishment of Gosford Christian School (now known as the Gosford campus of St Philip's Christian College) and served in the capacities of School Principal, Senior Pastor and board member for a total of 16 years. During the 1990s whilst in Gosford, I also enjoyed a number of years conducting a Sunday night radio program “Street Talk with Pastor Pete” on 2GO. Interspersed with my years in Gosford, I also served for as Principal of Northern Beaches Christian School at Terrey Hills in Sydney for five of its foundational years. I was also a member of the associated Pastoral team of its founding church and a member of its board in two terms adding to a total of 13 years. Following these appointments I served as Principal of Tabor College NSW a small Pentecostal/Charismatic Vocational and Higher Educational institution for a total of six years. During this time I taught extensively at on leadership, pastoral care and homiletics and lead the team through the processes involved in the accreditation and registration of Vocational courses and Higher Education degrees: these involved both DET NSW and AUQA processes. Concurrently with the later years of this service, I was involved in educational, training and organisational development consultancies involving private and small business practitioners in financial services and training delivery. This gave rise to a continuing interest in the theology of business especially with respect to the re-establishment and design of mutual systems as enhancers of commercially robust and socially just outcomes in commercial operations. All of this has given rise to my interest in and focus on Practical Theology. These interests include exploring the theological validation of the scope and nature of ministry, Christian education at all levels, and processes and pedagogies that contribute to personal and spiritual formation in Christian life, ministry and business. On a personal level I am the son of a non-practicing Greek Orthodox father who was raised Roman Catholic but has spent most of my life in independent churches in the Pentecostal/Charismatic spectrum of the church. I am married with three adult children and four grand-children. I am presently endorsed as a minister in the Churches of Christ in NSW and practice as a consulting Pastor and aged-care Chaplain. All of this has caused me to develop a strongly ecumenical and inclusive view of the Christian faith and church.
