Career Summary

Biography

* 1992, Ph D (Newcastle, Australia)

* 1999, work as the Project Co-ordinatorof the Marsupial CRC at Newcastle University. Since than, work on the sperm physiology and biochemistry has been published in the premier international journals of reproductive biology and anatomy and a provisional patent (IP Australia Patent Office No.6492).

*Up to 2003, research has been supported by the Marsupial Cooperative Research Centre in marsupial reproductive biology. My work has been recognized by international peers, and invited to give keynote speech at the International Symposium on Comparative Reproductive Biology in Vertebrates, Sun City, South Africa, in 2001.

*With the termination of the MCRC in 2004, I had to realign my research career from maruspial reproductive biology to eutherians, so that he can become competitive for NCG funds including linkage grants with industry.

*Currently, he is appointed as a senior lecturer at the School of Environmental Biology, and joined the Reproduction group at the Discipline of Biological Sciences.

Research Expertise
In animal reproductive physiology and biochemistry, specifically in the area of sperm formation in birds and mammals, including marsupials and monotremes. Currently research grants supported the following 4 research fields:

1. Kinetics of Sperm production in mammals and birds

2. Biochemical mechanism of sperm maturation in mammals

3. Separation of X- and Y- chromosome sperm

4. Identification of sperm proteins as contraceptive antigens

Teaching Expertise
Lectured on undergraduate courses such as animal physiology and development, reproductive physiology and development, biosciences (human physiology), and animal biology.

Administrative Expertise
University ACEC member
