Biography
Kelly Malone is a poet and text-based artist. Her research considers the approach of Performance Writing (writing as an event with other media/s) within poetry, specifically in Australia and New Zealand.
Her poetry and 'artwords' have been widely published online and in zines, including, Brief, The Capilano Review, Deep South, fillingStation, Shearsman Magazine, Snorkel, Swamp, and Turbine. Her 'chapbox' features in a recent Tinfish publication edited by Lisa Samuels, Over Hear: Six Types of Poetry Experiment in Aotearoa / New Zealand. Curation of Kelly's performance work, 'Nee Miss' has been archived online at NZEPC. Another performance work, 'Reign of Contexti: A Libretto' was shortlisted for the biennial Leslie Scalapino Award for Innovation Women Performance Writers, 2016.

Kelly's career background
Kelly trained and qualified as a secondary teacher in 2002, and subsequently spent six years in the classroom. Teaching at all levels, including scholarship, she was also involved in a great deal of professional development for gifted and talented students.
Kelly returned to the University of Auckland in 2009 to undertake her Masters of Creative Writing, and graduated with First Class Honours in 2010. In 2011 she started teaching at the University of Auckland, while completing her Masters of Arts, graduating with First Class Honours in 2013. Kelly studied under Michele Leggott and Lisa Samuels, from the University of Auckland, and has also taught with these writers, along with Paula Morris, and numerous other academics.
Kelly has taught, lectured and convened as a Professional Teaching Fellow, and a Graduate Teaching Assistant, covering all stages of undergraduate classes (Stages One, Two and Three). Her areas of teaching included contemporary fiction, experimental poetry, postcolonial literature, critical theory, and creative writing. Her teaching has informed much of her creative process and research.
