Career Summary

Biography

Dr Clare Lloyd's background is in communication and media studies and includes both academic and industry experience. She has particular expertise in the development and implementation of online and multimodal learning initiatives, and extensive experience working with industry partners to develop courses, from ‘open’ courses (moocs) through to degree offerings. Her broad range of media industry experience also includes: Public Relations, radio producing, and multimedia production.

Research Expertise
Her research interests are in digital media and communication, mobile phone communication, online identity, and online & blended teaching and learning. Her research investigates the use of technology in a range of settings.

Teaching Expertise
Teaching experience is in communication, digital communication, discourse theory, public relations, web production and internet studies. Coordination of first, second and, third year courses. Honours and PhD supervision.

This course introduces students to the field of public relations and provides a foundational knowledge of public relations theory and practice. Students will begin to develop an understanding of professional practice, ethical issues, and role of communication strategies and tactics in public relations management. Students are encouraged to explore the different types of public relations practice and to begin positioning themselves to develop a career in the field.
