Career Summary

Biography

Ann joined Newcastle Law School as a lecturer in 2010. She was previously employed as a solicitor in regional New South Wales where she has practised in the areas of civil litigation, property and commercial law. Ann is currently enrolled as a PhD student at the TC Beirne School of Law University of Queensland . Her thesis topic is "Realising Potential : A comparative study of legal frameworks for co-operatives in Australia and the South Pacific."  Her broader research interests include corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and legal models for social enterprise.  Ann teaches Foundations of Law, Law of Business Organisations, Contract Law and Conveyancing to undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business and Commerce programs.

Research Expertise
Ann is currently enrolled in a PhD at TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland. Her supervisor is Professor Jennifer Corrin. Ann is also a research fellow at the Centre for Public, International and Comparative Law at University of Queensland. Ann's thesis topic is "Realising potential, a comparative study of co-operative law in the Australia and the South Pacific". The thesis explores regulatory frameworks for co-operative businesses and their potential as a collective tool for sustainable development in traditional communities in the Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Teaching Expertise
Ann teaches Foundations of Law and Law of Business Organisations to students undertaking the Bachelor degrees in Business and Commerce. She also teaches Contract Law to students undertaking the Bachelor of Laws and Conveyancing Practice to students who are also enrolled in the Diploma of Legal Practice.

Administrative Expertise
Ann is currently a member of the Faculty of Business and Law Teaching and Learning Committee (2011 - 2015). She was a member of the Faculty Board (2011 - 2013) and a member of the Law School Program Management Group (2014).
