Biography

Andrew Lloyd is a lecturer in Nuclear Medicine.

Andrew has worked as a nuclear medicine Technologist since 1992, and has been accredited with the ANZSNM since 1994. In that time he has worked in several and diverse roles, domestically and internationally, including the role of Chief Technologist. Andrew has specialised in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) since 1999, and continues to work in both conventional and PET Nuclear Medicine at the Hunter and New England Imaging Service.

He holds a Master of Public Health with Distinction.

Mr Lloyd’s program of research focuses on the optimisation of administered doses in PET/CT and implementation of technological advances into clinical practice.

Andrew is committed to collaborative research, has worked on projects on dose optimization in PET. Collaborated with Andrew Chicco and Paul Cardew to develop an effective and universally available image quality analysis tool for 18F-FDG PET/CT images. Andrew is also researching the use of measured Glomerular Filtration Rate to better diagnose and monitor chronic kidney disease.

Mr Lloyd was co-recipient of the 2001 Amersham Award for work describing the effect of 67Gallium-Citrate on 18F-FDG PET image quality. This work validated clinical protocols for sequential complementary patient scanning procedures.
