The Role of Policy

Policy plays an important role within the University. It provides the principles which dictate how the University will act.

Those principles are derived from and shaped by: the law and regulations that govern the University; national standards and community expectations, and the values and mission the University articulates in its strategic plan.

Policy enables the organisation to make decisions which:

translate values into operations;
ensure compliance with legal and statutory responsibilities;
achieve the goals of its strategic plan;
set standards, and
improve the management of risk.
