This checklist applies from 1 January, 2005

The following checklist of questions should be discussed between the Program Convenors and the Academic Registrar, or nominee, in order to ensure that students are supported in a similar way to face-to-face on-campus students in Australia.

  1. What access will student have to advocacy services off-shore? Is there an expectation that the Newcastle's campuses will provide access for off shore students to student representation, the Dean of Students, disability support, recruitment, loans and welfare etc.?
  2. What expectations are there for examination and graduation services, including special exam arrangements for students with disabilities? Will these activities be supported by the provider or from Newcastle campuses?
  3. Do students have access to support services such as counsellors and Health Services on the providers' campus? Is there an expectation that the Newcastle campus should make arrangements for the provision of these services?
  4. What procedures will be in place for the control and management of debt for the off shore students?
  5. If the on-line application, enrolment and payment systems are rolled out to off-shore providers for the speedy enrolments and quick turnaround, would such a service be used by our providers?
  6. What expectation is there for access to teaching resources such as email, blackboard and other electronic learning tools by the providers?
  7. Could a paper based enrolment guide be developed by the provider with assistance from Newcastle campuses to ensure that the basic administration information is provided to offshore students? Information could include rules and policies, minimum computer specifications, student code of conduct etc.
  8. Could the Memorandum of Understanding with providers be developed to note that all administrative procedures will be delivered according to the University of Newcastle approved policies and procedures?
