General and Interpretation

1.

  1. These Rules are made in accordance with the powers vested in the Council.
  2. These Rules shall apply to University Undergraduate Scholarships and such other undergraduate scholarships as the Vice-Chancellor may determine.
  3. In these Rules, unless the content or subject matter otherwise indicates or requires:

"program" means the program of study undertaken by the scholar pursuant to the appropriate degree or diploma requirements.

"Scholar" means the person awarded the scholarship.

"Secretary" means the University Secretary.

Application and Selection

  1. Application for a scholarship shall be submitted to the Secretary by the nominated date.
  2. Selection shall be on the basis of academic merit or in special circumstances by a selection committee constituted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Tenure

  1. The scholarship is tenable in the University to support enrolment in an undergraduate degree or diploma program.
  2. The scholarship shall be subject to annual renewal and may be held for not more than the normal duration of the program when completed by full-time study.
  3. Annual renewal of scholarship benefits will depend upon the scholar maintaining progress at a pass grade point average or as otherwise defined in the conditions for the specific scholarship.
  4. Scholars are subject to the Rules governing the degree or diploma for which they are enrolled.

Benefits

The scholarship shall provide an allowance, or such other benefits as the Vice-Chancellor may approve, and shall be paid according to arrangements determined by the Secretary.
