Acceptance of Gifts and Benefits

Gifts of money are not acceptable.

Staff members must not solicit nor accept gifts or benefits either for themselves or for another person which might in any way be seen to directly or indirectly compromise or influence them in their official capacity

Gifts of nominal value (less than $100 as a guide) used for promotional purposes by the donor may be accepted. Individuals must, however, be satisfied that they cannot be compromised by the acceptance. Gifts in excess of a value of $100 should;

  1. normally be gifts to the Faculty/Division of the University and
  2. be recorded in a Gifts Register to be maintained by each Faculty/Division.

If a staff member has any doubt in relation to a particular matter, direction should be sought from their respective Pro Vice-Chancellor or Head of Division.
