Faculty of Education and Arts
Classification
1. The degree of Master of Education shall be a degree by research offered in the Faculty of Education and Arts.
Admission to Candidature
2. To be eligible for admission to candidature an applicant shall:
(a) have satisfied the requirements for a coursework Master degree in Education of the University or another institution approved for this purpose by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee); or
(b) have satisfied the requirements for a four year Bachelor degree with honours 1 or 2 of the University or for another institution, approved for this purpose by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee); or
(c) have satisfied the requirements of a four year professional degree in education or a Bachelor degree with a Diploma in Education; or
(d) in exceptional cases produce evidence of possessing such other qualifications as may be approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Education.
Qualification for the Degree
3. To qualify for admission to the degree the candidate shall complete to the satisfaction of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) a program prescribed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) which will include:
(a) such work and examinations as may be prescribed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee); and
(b) a dissertation embodying the results of a major study in the area of the candidate's specialisation.
