Classification

1. The degree Master of Arts (Music) shall be a degree by research offered in the Faculty of Education and Arts.

Admission to Candidature

2. To be eligible for admission to candidature an applicant shall:

(a) have satisfied all the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Music (Honours) Class I or Class II of the University or to another degree approved for this purpose by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee); or

(b) have satisfied all the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Music of the University or other approved university and have achieved a standard at least equivalent to that required for admission to a degree of Bachelor with second class Honours in an appropriate subject; or

(c) produce evidence of possessing such other qualifications as may be approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) on the recommendation of the Head of the Conservatorium.

Qualifications for the Degree

3. To qualify for admission to the degree a candidate shall complete to the satisfaction of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) a program approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) consisting of:

(a) a thesis embodying the results of the candidate's research; and

(b) such other work and examinations as may be prescribed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee).
