Admission to Candidature
1. A candidate may undertake the Honours Degree in either one or two specialisations.
2. In order to be admitted to candidature for the Degree in a single specialisation an applicant shall:
(a) have completed the requirements for admission to the Ordinary Degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or to any other degree approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor; and
(b) have completed such other work prescribed in accordance with the policy determined by the Pro Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Head of the School responsible for the discipline.
3. In order to be admitted to candidature for the Degree in two specialisations, an applicant shall:
(a) have completed the requirements for admission to the Ordinary Degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or to any other degree approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor; and
(b) have completed such other work prescribed in accordance with the policy determined by the Pro Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Heads of the Schools responsible for the specialisations.
Qualification for Admission to the Degree
4. To qualify for admission to the Degree a candidate shall pass a program of study approved by the Academic Senate totalling 80 units at the 4000 level.
Classes of Honours
5. There shall be three classes of Honours: Class I, Class II and Class III. Class II shall have two divisions, namely Division 1 and Division 2.
Time Requirements
6. Except with the permission of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, a candidate shall complete the program in not more than two years of study.
