PhD Scholarship in Nanopositioning

A PhD scholarship is available for a student to join the Precision and Nanopositioning project at the University of Newcastle under the supervision of Dr Yuen Yong
The project involves the design and control of nanopositioning devices with sub-nanometer accuracy for Atomic Force Microscopy applications.
The successful candidate will have excess to the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities including a high-precision Atomic Force Microscope; to work with a number of experts in their fields; and to attend premier international conferences.
Applicants will have a background in Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering, finite-element-analysis, control, or microscopy. Applicants with experimental experience are preferred.
The scholarship includes tuition fees and living allowance of $25,392 per annum (2014 rate) with possible top-up.
This scholarship is available to International and Australian candidates.
