Bachelor of Medicine program to continue in 2015
Friday, 29 August 2014
Due to the challenges that go with delivering Australia's first five-year medical degree, we have chosen to delay the start of the Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine (MD-JMP) until 2016. This will give us time to make sure we deliver the highest quality program for our students.
Current students who have applied as applicants to the Joint Medical Program- an expansion of the highly successful University of Newcastle Bachelor of Medicine program in partnership with the University of New England, Hunter New England and Central Coast Local Health Districts- will be enrolled in the Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) in 2015.
The BMed is a great opportunity to study an internationally recognised program that offers early and broad clinical experience through this unique partnership. The current Bachelor of Medicine program meets AMC standards for continued accreditation.
We look forward to delivering the BMed in 2015 and to the continuing development of the Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine (MD-JMP) for implementation in 2016.
