Delivering on activities proposed in the 2011-2013 Environmental Sustainability Plan (ESP), the Strategic Transport Management Plan and in response to feedback by students, the university recently completed two bike storage hubs, with end of trip facilities and lockers, as well as additional and upgraded cycle paths within the campus.

Bike hub

Bike Hub East and Bike Hub West have recently opened and provide secure, covered bike storage racks and superior end of trip facilities (showers, toilets, lockers). Access by staff to the hubs has not been restricted, however the primary purpose of these facilities is to provide a secure place for students to store their bikes whilst on campus.

Bike Hub East is located out the front of the Student Services Centre whilst Bike Hub West is located adjacent to the Social Sciences Building. Each hub has 52 bike storage racks and 44 lockers. The bike hub facilities are access controlled and you will need to swipe your student / staff ID card to gain entry. They are able to be accessed 24/7.

The storage racks are available on a first-come basis and cannot be reserved. Any locks left on the racks without bikes will be removed.

It is your responsibility to ensure the security of your bike on campus. You will be required to bring your own bike chain, cable or D-lock to secure your bike to the racks. CCTV cameras also operate outside the buildings and the facilities are included in regular campus Security patrols. The University has implemented reasonable measures to minimise the incidence of theft or damage however it does not accept responsibility for these events if they should occur.

The lockers are individually pin protected by your own unique 4 digit pin. Follow the instructions on the lockers to open and close the lockers. The lockers are programmed to automatically unlock at midnight every night so please ensure you have removed your personal items prior to this time.

New workshop facilities have also been provided within Bike Hub East for Bike Love Corral and they will soon move to their new permanent location.
