Industrial Design Exhibition
Friday, 15 November 2013
A showcase of innovative projects by final-year University of Newcastle Industrial Design students – Newcastle Products, will bring industry and graduates together to build connections and capacity in the region.
An industry night on 28 November, held in partnership with HunterNet, will provide valuable networking opportunities for students who are soon to join the marketplace. Culminating several years of challenging study, the event celebrates student achievement and profiles some of the knowledge and innovation available in the region.
"As part of their final year course component, students identify and investigate opportunities for the commercialisation of a product, and through rigorous research and development they create, evaluate and present innovative concepts of quality," said Mr Jones.
Mr Jones is driving the Newcastle Products exhibition, endorsed by global creative visionary, Jeff Julian, Director of Creative Innovation at the University of Newcastle, who will also deliver a talk at the industry night.
"An impressive array of talent exists in the Hunter. Industry events such as these provide our final year students a highly targeted environment in which to profile their skills and expertise" said Mr Julian.
The event sits within the newly established creative industries research and innovation cluster (CIRIC) at the University of Newcastle.
"As a driver of innovation and entrepreneurialism, our focus at the University of Newcastle is to continue the exponential growth of the creative industries in the Hunter and beyond," said Mr Julian.
The Newcastle Products event will he held Tuesday 26 November to Sunday 1 December at Watt Space Gallery, Cnr Auckland & King Streets, Newcastle. The industry night will be held on Thursday 28 November and is open to the public. Register for the event at http://newcastleproducts2013.eventzilla.net.
