Future students and their families will have a chance to learn about the wide range of degrees and courses offered at the joint University of Newcastle and Hunter TAFE Central Coast campus this Saturday 13 August.

Explore opportunities at Central Coast

Open Day visitors can speak face-to-face with staff and current students, and tour the campus facilities to gain an insight into tertiary study.  A range of interactive displays and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the day, including the Worldskills Australia Try’aSkill competition for Building and Construction, explosive SMART Science Show, world-champion football-playing NUbots and exhibitions with industry partners.

University of Newcastle’s Associate Director of Tertiary and Regional Partnerships, Linda Cooper, said academic excellence went hand in hand with an exciting community at the Central Coast campus.

"At the Central Coast we are very proud of the experience offered by our vibrant campus lifestyle. The University of Newcastle offers quality education in a social, community-based, learning environment. Students who start their studies at Ourimbah are nurtured and inspired locally to step out into the world on a global scale," Ms Cooper said.

“Industry partners are exhibiting this year, which provides an opportunity for people to find out about the type of careers and jobs that are available in the areas of study provided by Hunter TAFE and UON,” she said.

Hunter TAFE CEO, Christine Warrington said the Open Day was about connecting young people on the Central Coast with education that would enable them to pursue sustainable careers locally.

“The Open Day will provide an insight into all of the training options and career pathways available at our Wyong, Gosford and Ourimbah campuses,” says Ms Warrington.

“It is also a great opportunity to extend the link between education and the skills needs of industry right across the region, not just now but further into the future,” she said.

The Central Coast Open Day will be held on Saturday 13 August from 10am to 2pm at the Central Coast Campus, Chittaway Road, Ourimbah. Great food, music and entertainment will also be on offer.
