Business and Law research on display
The annual Business and Law Research Showcase opened on Monday September 5 at the University Gallery.
A diverse range of research was on display in poster form and adorned the walls in a creative display.
New and innovative research from the Faculty’s academic and higher degree research student showcased the breadth of research undertaken at UON.
At the opening night event faculty, students and commercial and public sector organisations had the opportunity to see the range of research undertaken by UON staff and student researchers and to learn more about current projects and activities.

Best poster Award
Associate Professor John Anderson (Newcastle Law School) Playing With Fire: Contemporary fault issues in the enigmatic crime of arson.
Best HRD Poster Award – jointly awarded
Marguerite Hook (PhD Management candidate – Newcastle Business School) The Game of Brand Communities: do children’s emotions influence their participation?
Clare Keogh (PhD Management candidate – Newcastle Business School) Why are micro-enterprises left out in the cold? An exploratory study: understanding tourism business engagement in regional development initiatives.
People’s Choice Award
Jessica O’Neil (PhD Politics candidate Newcastle Business School) Australia’s Dirtiest Balancing Act? Performance, perception and the influence of political parties on energy security.
Packer’s Prize
Dr Tamara Young and Professor Kevin Lyons (Newcastle Business School) Facilitating Short-Term Mobility Programs: institutionalising ethics of care.
